Cortney Hartman, MBA, CST, FAST, has been a surgical technologist for more than 18 years, specializing in cardiovascular, thoracic, peripheral vascular, robotic lungs, heart transplants, and ventricular assist devices. She holds current CST certification with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting and previously held certifications as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician and Certified Instrument Specialist with HSPA.
In 2016 Cortney became the first Surgical Technology Educator for the Parkview Health System in Northeast Indiana, and in 2019 she finished her MBA with a focus in Healthcare Management and was invited to join the Advanced Medical Simulation Lab at the Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation to develop a surgical simulation program. She was an instrumental part of the team who worked to achieve American College of Surgeons Accredited Education Institute (AEI) accreditation for the Advanced Medical Simulation Lab.
Cortney has held academic appointments with five local colleges/universities and enjoys serving on professional committees, volunteering in her local community, and writing/reviewing abstracts on the topics of surgical safety and simulation. Cortney was awarded the Association of Surgical Technology’s FAST designation in 2021 and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education in Health Professions degree.
Dr. Eboni Saurage, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health at Baton Rouge Community College and Assistant Professor of Surgical Technology . She has over 15 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and surgical technology educator. She holds degrees in surgical technology, health science, academic administration, healthcare education, and organizational leadership.
Dr. Saurage was awarded the Louisiana Community and Technical College System's Presidents Faculty Fellowship Award and holds the Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists (FAST) designation for her dedication to advancing the profession and improving
surgical patient care.
She is President of the Louisiana State Assembly of the Association of Surgical Technologists and recently joined the Council on Surgical and Perioperative Safety Board of Directors. Her interests include leadership development, interprofessional Education, and simulation in Healthcare, with a strong commitment to bridging workforce and academics.
